Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)
Established in 1958, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa is one of five regional commissions under the administrative direction of the United Nations. In carrying out its mandate to support economic and social development in Africa, the UNECA promotes dialogue on key issues in African economic development; builds capacity in development management by providing policy analysis, training, and advisory services to African states; and facilitates the process by which African states define, articulate, and advocate common positions on development policies and issues.
African Development Bank (ADB)
The ADB is a multinational development bank supported by 77 nations (member countries) from Africa, North and South America, Europe, and Asia, headquartered in Abidjan. The ADB is a key player in development financing in African economies.
African Economic Research Consortium (AERC)
Established in 1988, AERC is a public not-for-profit organization devoted to advanced policy-oriented research and training. The principal objective is to strengthen local capacity for conducting independent and rigorous research on African economies.
African Finance and Economics Association (AFEA)
A nonprofit professional association of academicians and practitioners with scholarly or professional interest in African economies. AFEA produces the Journal of African Finance & Economic Development .
Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE)
Based at Oxford University, CSAE is a designated research center of the British Economic and Social Research Council. The center conducts applied research on Africa's economic problems. Research is both microeconomic and macroeconomic. The center produces numerous publications, including working papers, books, and the Journal of African Economies .
Nordic Africa Institute
The Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala was founded in 1962. It serves as a research, documentation, and information center on modern Africa for the Nordic countries.
African Forum & Network on Debt & Development (AFRODAD)
AFRODAD is a research, lobby, and advocacy organization seeking positive policy changes to redress Africa's debt crisis. It compiles debt profiles for many countries and publishes a quarterly newsletter.
Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA)
Created in 1973, CODESRIA is a Pan-African nongovernmental organization whose objective is to facilitate research and promote the exchange of views and information among African researchers in social sciences.
