Abstract:
In this article for The American Prospect, Robert Pollin addresses a
few key questions about job creation through clean-energy investments. Can we
expect that a green investment program today can have an effect comparable to
military spending in the 1940s? What will be the net job gain given that
many jobs will be lost as we reduce demand for oil, natural gas, and coal? And,
perhaps most critically, how will we pay for it?
Pollin's article is part of The American Prospect's special report on
"The Green Challenge," which explores the range of policy issues that
need to be carefully considered in order to create a prosperous and equitable
'green' economy.
